Teaching Arabic Language in Yala Rajabhat University: Problems and Solving

Abstract

Since human beings are social beings, language has become an important means of communication. Humans use language to communicate with one another in order to understand and achieve their biological and psychological needs in this world. The Arabic language is regard as one of the ancient languages known as “the collection of Semantic languages” and it is largely used along with the spread of Islam. Understand Arabic language however requires the effective curriculum, learner’s immense effort and teacher’s effective techniques of teaching. Arabic language is considered as difficult subject in term of grammar structure because it has much complex grammar to learn. To be proficient in this language, the learners should practice and be patient. This research aims to know the difficulties and problems faced by students of Yala Rajabhat University in learning Arabic language to improve the teaching and learning Arabic language in the future. This research was survey research which use questionnaires and Arabic language Test as a tool to collect data. The results have shown that the difficulties faced by students were so many the researcher grouped them into 3 groups as follows: 1. The problem related to the understanding of grammar structure 2. The problem related to the Arabic language Skills 3. The problem related to teaching &learning method and psychological problem. In the last parts of this study were some methods of solving the above problems and some suggestion from researcher to enhance students’ ability in Arabic language proficiency
